Resources for Improving Scientific Methods and Practices

Ledgerwood Lab SOP:
The standard operating procedures for studies conducted in our lab. This document specifies default practices that we will follow for all studies conducted in the Ledgerwood Lab unless (a) we set and record a different plan ahead of time, before looking at the results of a study or (b) we transparently disclose in all descriptions of the study (e.g., talks, publications) that we deviated from our SOP.

Ledgerwood Lab Experiment Archive Form:
The archive form we use to organize research in our lab, which may be helpful as a template.

Resources for using independent covariates in experimental designs:
Flexible Covariate Analysis Registration Form for conducting a principled analysis of experimental data with an unplanned, carefully selected, independent covariate (see Wang, Sparks, Gonzales, Hess, & Ledgerwood, 2017, JESP).

The Start-Local Approach:
SPSP 2016 Pre-Conference talk and powerpoint slides  on the importance of thinking about how to align your research practices with the goal of getting it right, how to start today, and how to avoid overgeneralizing what works for your research landscape to what works well for others.

Ledgerwood & Shrout (2011) Resources:
Sample Mplus syntax for generating simulations and estimating power in three-variable mediation models.

Expected bias tool for calculating the expected bias of OLS estimates at varying levels of unreliability.
